9am-9:45am Session 2: Airport Strategic Business Planning – It’s Much More Than a Master Plan
Moderator: John Kinney / Deputy Manager of Aviation / Denver Int’l Airport
Speaker(s): Paul Meyers / Principal in Charge / Aviation Management Consulting Group
When it comes to planning and developing an airport, a master plan is a great tool, but it’s not (and it shouldn't be mistaken for) a strategic business plan (SBP) which is an all encompassing document that communicates the airport’s mission and vision and conveys the specific goals and objectives (beyond those identified in a master plan) that need to be accomplished to best position the airport (from a strategic and business standpoint) for the future. As such, the SBP addresses the operation, management, and marketing (and related financial aspects) of the airport.

Tim Doll / Airport Director / Eugene Airport John Parrott / Airport Manager / Ted Stevens Anchorage Int’l Airport
Flexible Provisioning provides a highly flexible and sustainable solution to optimize key airport assets, facilitates seamless customer service delivery to empower airline partnerships is significantly less expensive than bricks, mortar, steel and glass construction and is eligible for PFC funding. This session will include a case study from Fresno-Yosemite Airport and a discussion by other airports about their desire to go to Flexible Provisioning.
11:15am-12pm Session 4: Community Backed Air Service
Moderator: Richard McConnell / Airport Director / Boise Airport
Speaker(s): Jack Penning / Director of Market Analysis / Sixel Consulting
“Community backed air service” concept ensures an airport gets service, while ensuring the airline that the community will support its presence in the market. Under the concept, a group of community investors essentially buys aircraft time from the regional aircraft operator. In exchange, the community investors would be able to set the route, schedule, and local fare on the service – ensuring the flights are well timed and that the fares are reasonable.
12pm-1:30pm Lunch with Exhibitors

Joanne Landry / Principal / Landry Consultants LLC
Establishing minimum standards, especially with regard to safety, can improve airport/air carrier/service provider awareness and establish a higher level of compliance to safety standards through either internal or external standard programs such as IATA’s Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO).

Fishing Charter
Attending the Chapter’s Annual Conference in Anchorage and looking to get in a little fishing while you’re there or maybe just enjoying a scenic boat trip? There is an opportunity to charter a 65 foot, 30 passenger boat on Wednesday, September 1st (most likely leave in the AM and be a half day at minimum) for a fishing trip (or you can go along for the scenery) but we need to see how many people are actually interested. Cost will depend on how many people sign up – the more people the less cost per person. Price would range from $150 (30 people) to $300 (15 people) and would be established before we commit to the charter.

If you are interested in a fishing expedition please let me know ASAP so that we can determine if there is enough interest to move forward. - Linda
