The Board and General
Membership will vote on a Mission Statement at the AAAE Annual
Conference in Phoenix. I feel it is important, not only for the
Board, but for everyone, to understand the mission of the Chapter.
Especially those individuals that are not always able to attend a
General Membership meeting.
In addition to the Mission Statement, the Board has established
some goals for 1998-1999 and I have added a few of my own. At NW Goals you will find the goals that
have been set for this year—some are already accomplished. You
will see several Chapter visibility items. The Board wants members
to have items available that show Chapter participation and pride.
I challenge all future NWAAAE Presidents to continue publishing
Chapter goals each year so that everyone knows what to expect.
At the Board meeting in Salt Lake City, the Board received a
Policy and Procedures Manual that Janelle has been working on over
the last year. The intent was not to have rigid structure to
follow, but to have a document that explains how the Chapter does
business. This will reduce the learning curve for new Board
members and assist the Officers in maintaining consistency with
policy over the years. A HUGE THANKS to Janelle for all her hard
work and effort on this cumbersome project. A copy of this manual
will be available for review at the Chapter Booth in Phoenix.
Those of you currently enrolled in the AAAE Accreditation Program
will be receiving a letter soon explaining the new mentoring
program. Many thanks to Dave Ulane, Tom Binford and the Board for
rolling this program out so quickly. All NWAAAE members in the
program will receive a mentor—so for those of you that are
stalled...expect a friendly prod.
One last item . . . in the upcoming months we will be searching
for Chapter members interested in getting more involved in our
association. At our Annual Conference in Eugene, Oregon, in
September, we will be filling several vacancies on the Northwest
Chapter Board. If you are interested, please advise either Janelle
Olson @ 307-638-6231, Mike Boggs @ 541-682-5883 or Jim Elwood,
A.A.E. @ 970-524-8246. We are always looking for people interested
in getting more involved!!!
